Rejection to Redirection

Rejection to Redirection

I came from a non-Christian family who don't really go to church. My life before I met Christ was hopeless and broken. My mother is not very religious, and my father only attends church occasionally. It was a chaotic home with a lot of pain and sadness, and I didn't feel cared for or loved.

After graduating high school, I wanted to study Psychology at Ramon Magsaysay Memorial College. However, my brother, who agreed to pay for my college expenses, rejected that plan. I was really upset and my brother told me to attend Mindanao State University-GSC instead.

During those difficult time, my brother encouraged me to go to the Freshmen Treat event organized by the IVCF ministry. I didn't know much about this group but I went anyway. As I listened to the preaching, I felt a sense of peace and clarity. I knew then that I wanted to be a part of this community.

In the following months, I became more curious and eager to learn about God. The IVCF ministry became a source of spiritual nourishment for me. Gradually, Jesus transformed me, giving me a renewed sense of purpose, meaning, and self-worth. As I looked back on my journey, I remember the verse in John 13:7, where Jesus tells his disciples, "You do not realize now what I am doing, but later you will understand." Even though I couldn't see God's plan at that time, I've come to believe that His plans are perfect and beautiful; unfolding in His perfect timing.

The rejection I faced was actually a redirection - a realignment leading me to the path He had prepared for me. Lastly, I firmly believe that everything happens for a reason. My brother's role in bringing me to Christ forever changed my life, and I'm grateful to share this testimony of God's boundless love and the power of His redemptive work.
